How to save when buying gifts!

Author : teriann

The best thing about shopping for gifts, is the thought of how the person receiving the gift will respond.

The worst thing though about buying gifts, is that the funds are often not enough to purchase the desired gift.

Of course with proper planning, a budget and saving plan can alleviate some problems but the rising cost of living has pushed many to downsize their gifts in an effort to save money.

Save Money

I think we need to go back to the basics. Often we think that a gift needs to be expensive for it to be appreciated but that is not necessarily true.  The best gifts are not those that break the bank but those that come from the heart.

Gifts that are unique and tasteful will certainly strike a cord with anyone.  At the end of the day, it is certainly an area to explore as homemade items can be very creative and are often well received.

If you pool together the resources of two or more friends then you can easily afford to purchase gifts in bulk.

The quality of the items bought is important as sometimes buying cheaper gifts are not a recipe for success as they might not be well received.

School gifts

At the end of the year, schools often have prize giving ceremonies that entail rewarding students for all their hard work from the previous school year.

In an effort to save money, these schools often print certificates or order customized badges.
However, I think it would also be good for companies during this time to increase their customer appreciation by donating gifts to the school.

Parents and other stakeholders in the community could arrange for ‘special days’ for these students in lieu of actual gifts.
Whether you are buying gifts for your family or friends it is important to keep costs down!

What is your take?
