Formula 1: Will Lewis Hamilton recover in Canada?

Author : cmunroe

Formula 1 stops in North America this weekend. The circus will reveal its entertaining-self on Sunday and all things being equal, all the entertainers will leave no wheel motionless, as they chase P1.

Monaco is home to the opulent and carefree and at the last F1-battle, it produced a perplexing outcome, to what was, prior to a brain-fade moment, a dominant performance by the Mercs and defending World Champion, Lewis Hamilton. I say perplexing outcome because it is still not clear, in the minds of many individuals, whether we saw a clever ploy to ensure that Rosberg, a German, won for the third successive time in Monaco, or what we saw, was simply a brain-dead moment by the Mercedes pit-wall! The jury is still behind closed doors!

But, F1 drivers are not human. They are alien in origin. They are super-human. It is said that they are heartless (literally). It is said that they eat egos for breakfast, raw determination for lunch, several servings of physical fitness for dinner and sip several cups of fearlessness with their supper! They would be more comfortable on Mars, but they are forced to exist with us mere mortals.

Red Bull

The qualities or behaviour patterns of F1 drivers stated above, when interpreted and translated, suggest that despite the miscue, if we accept that, witnessed in Monaco, there will be no significant change in the approach adopted by the teams as they pursue the ultimate prize in motorsports. It will be expensive business as usual! I am certain several meetings have been held thus far in the Mercedes camp to ensure that harmonious relationships are fostered in the two competing teams.

I am also certain that Ferrari has unearthed all their available resources – human and financial – inorder to ensure that there is no yawning gap between their machine and the Mercs. The same must be said for Red Bull. At the Monaco GP, Ricciardo found some of the magic he unleashed last season and the team stated that they are making progress – without the assistance of Renault!

So – What should we expect in Canada? I am no expert, but I will tell you this – expect Rosberg to be fast. Expect Lewis Hamilton to be even faster. Expect Vettel to launch an attack, if Mercedes blinks in the strategy department and also expect the unusual suspects to spring a surprise! I will not be proven wrong – expect Lewis Hamilton to deliver Shock and Awe! Weather has been a factor thus far for the practice sessions, but it is felt that excellent conditions will prevail on Sunday. We will see. Visit Just Bet, this is certain – it will be a  Mad Max: Fury Road event. It will be thrilling!
