Circuit Racing: Who will be at Jamwest August 1-2? Part 1

Author : cmunroe

Circuit racing, like all other genres of motorsports, occasionally encounters potholes the size, shape and form of those usually seen on many of our neglected roads! Think crater, better yet try sinkhole! But, challenges are a part of normal existence and as such the wise will not seek to reside in Problem/Despair Village instead he will opt for citizenship in Solution Palace!

The harsh financial climate that countries around the world have succumbed to, did not spare our minute island paradise. In addition, some will argue, that the reckless decisions made by previous administrations (JRDC) exacerbated circuit racing’s plight. We are a resilient bunch though and when brainpower is applied, a fruit-bearing solution is only a brilliant mind away!

Emancipation of Speed

Well, some astute minds collaborated and the decision was taken to stage the JRDC’s Emancipation of Speed race-meet at Jamaica’s fastest circuit racing venue – Jamwest Speedway – August 1-2,2015. As stated on these pages, I was present at Round 1 of the 2015 Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) at Jamwest Speedway. I will be succinct. It was a memorable experience! I was happier than a child who is trapped in a toy store! The track is insanely fast and if you choose your viewing spot carefully – I was close to the end of the start-finish straight approaching the hair-raising entry to corner 1 – you may need medication to suppress the magnified volts of adrenalin which invade your anatomy each time the machines roar towards corner 1!

At that event – CMRC Round 1 – some of the usual circuit racing suspects were missing in action, but there were enough stellar performances to keep patrons in a speed-filled frenzy. If you ask, you will hear about Jordan Powell’s uncaring and outright merciless execution of the kerbs! He inexplicably and repeatedly, maintained throttle-flat straight-line speed through what was designed, drawn and constructed as a corner!

JRDC

The JRDC is hoping that on August 1 and 2 at Jamwest Speedway, another page of the financially-sound and excitement-driven chapter will unfold. And to ensure that this is a reality, all the ‘guns’ – irrespective of manufacturer or caliber – have responded positively to the call to arms!

So – Who will be present at Jamwest – August 1-2? I will begin with arguably the biggest gun of them all – the record breaking duo –  Douglas ‘Hollywood’ Gore and his German Hammer – DTM Audi TT-R!

Doug Gore’s machine chilling……
