RALLYSPORT: OGIER STRIKES AGAIN!

Author : cmunroe

He is being hailed as the Monte-Master. He has joined an exclusive club, sitting next to legends including Makinen and Loeb. I heard a statistic being flung around suggesting that the driver/team that has won the Monte has gone on to win the World Championship x number of times. Success, when served piping hot from the top-chef’s kitchen, has a victorious habit of manufacturing more of the same.

Ogier’s unyielding grasp on P1 apparently knows no release mechanism. And when paired with the current version of the VW Polo R WRC, I worry about the plight of his ambitious opponents. Will they be discouraged by reality’s indifference or will they aspire to produce at the highest level – Ogier’s level.

Ogier, like cream, rose to the top at Round 1 of the 2016 WRC. His intentions are already clear. Can he be caught, trapped or restrained? Latvala and others have a lot to think about. They have 3 weeks to arrive at a vaccine for Og-V (Ogier-V)!

THE SOUNDS OF WRC!

OGIER-V!

    Cecil,

This WRC championship is going to very interesting, and I am watching this year not so much for the drivers championship section but for types of cars that will make there mark this year. I see Volkswagen is back with a bang and running hot on their heels seems a rejuvenated Hyundai. Lets see if these two can keep the pace for the year, because lets face it, contrary to some held belief in Jamaica, car makers like Hyundai and Kia are now makers of vehicles that can be considered right on par with any of the Japanese brands that we consistently speak of.

Hail Ian! I must admit that I stopped watching the WRC long ago with an interest in the drivers’ championship. The WRC has its own unique appeal in that the machines which occupy the series have a tireless ability to destroy any surface thrown at them! And the drivers, all of them, are nothing short of superhuman in their fearless but committed approach to navigating along treacherous terrain at incomprehensible speeds to access victory. I applaud them.

It is evident that the VW Polo R WRC is the machine to beat and Ogier is creating another Makinen/Loeb era with his dominance. I assure you, that even though the Hyundai and others may threaten at times, Ogier is a rather difficult act to follow, catch and pass. But we watch with interest. Do you think Latvala is up to the challenge?
