Formula 1: Hamilton fights back in Italy!

Did you watch the Italian GP? If you did not – shame on you! And here I was thinking that you are a true fan of the sport. Fortunately, we exist in the technology-driven age, a global village, which offers useful luxuries. As such, your opportunity to view what was a stupendous affair, has not elapsed.

Fresh from the fracas while leading and his subsequent demolition by Nico Rosberg at Spa, Lewis Hamilton, I am certain, entered qualifying at the Italian GP with the single purpose of claiming pole. He accomplished his first objective, but his cunning team-mate, Rosberg was next to him on the front row, so fireworks remained a tangible possibility.

Rosberg

A botched start saw Hamilton swallowed by a mob and Rosberg sped to corner 1 – P1. But Hamilton’s misfortune was our gift. His false-start meant that he had to redouble his effort inorder to catch and possibly overtake the fleeing World Championship leader – Rosberg.

Possibly feeling the pressure of the events after the Belgian GP, Rosberg was not his usual, solid, consistent-self. He was visibly over-driving the machine and sought comfort from the escape road on lap 9. Hamilton, on the other hand, was the Rock of Gibraltar – he was sure-footed – he was one with the machine! Hamilton weaved his way through the jostling minors with some forceful, precise, controlled techniques and after the only round of pit-stops for the Mercedes pair, he was within sniffing-distance of his unsettled team-mate.

Ignoring his engineer’s advice, Hamilton went for glory and Rosberg stumbled. Rosberg buckled and fell victim to Hamilton’s rapid pace. He (Rosberg) hugged the escape road – again- after committing another error. Hamilton smiled and drove by his hapless team-mate. His gratitude was evident as he sped away to claim a well-deserved victory and in the process reduce the points gap. We have an intriguing season on our hands and we are loving every late-braking second of it!

What do you think about Ricciardo’s performance at the Italian GP?
